Guided Trail Running

The Boulder Mountain Institute offers guided trail runs and personalized trail running coaching for everyone—from first timers to those training for their next Ultra Race. We realize that different trail runners have different goals, so all of our trail running adventures are customized to fit your exact desires. BMI offers guided trail runs and trail running coaching events both in the Front Range of Colorado as well as in all of our international locations.

The Front Range of Colorado includes the vast trail network in Boulder and Golden Colorado all the way up the trails in the high country of Rocky Mountain National Park. Due to the variety of elevations of all of these trail networks we are pleased to offer guided trail running and trail running coaching year around.

Chautauqua Park:

Located 3 minutes from Downtown Boulder this historic park offers trail running opportunities for all levels. Trails in this area range from completely flat to hill climbs that gain 3,000ft in less than 3 miles. Views of: Boulder, Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park are phenomenal from Chautauqua Park.

Rocky Mountain National Park:

Located less than a one hour drive from Boulder, CO; Rocky Mountain National Park offers trail runs of all lengths and different amounts of elevation gain. The alpine runs above tree-line are very popular tours with our clients, these tours offer great views of the entire National Park. Tours here range anywhere from a one hour run below tree-line to an all day affair that includes the summit of a 14,000ft peak!

European Alps:

The European Alps were the birthplace of trail running. The mountains of France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria offer endless trails for every type of trail runner. Our Alps trips can be town based or hut-to-hut. Either way you choose to experience trail running in the Alps with BMI you will be guaranteed to have a unique experience exploring these historic mountain ranges. Trail running in the Alps has the unique advantage of utilizing a large network of Trams and Mountain Trains. This means that you may choose to sleep in and have a nice breakfast and catch the Tram around 11AM for your alpine trail run and still make it home for happy hour at 4PM. The culture and cuisine of the European Alpine countries is a great bonus for your trip on top of the world class trail running.

Patagonia:

This world renowned landscape offers the perfect backdrop for trail running. The fantastic: peaks, glaciers and lakes of the Patagonia region can all be viewed from any of the many trail networks we use on these trips. Our Patagonia trips base out of a town named El Chalten. This town is nestled at the base of the famous peaks Fitzroy and Cerro Torre. Participants are able to choose from a wide variety of accommodations with anything from a basic hostel to a 4 Star Hotel. The cuisine and wine from Argentina are legendary. After a long day on the trail, there is nothing better than sitting down to an authentic Argentine asado meal!

Canadian Rockies:

Viewing the majestic Canadian Rockies from the perspective of a trail runner is the experience of a lifetime! The Canadian Rockies have Thousands of Kilometers of trails that give you the opportunity to see not only see a very beautiful landscape but also view some of the world’s most beautiful and elusive wildlife as well. It is not uncommon for us to see: Deer, Elk, Moose, Black Bears, Grizzly Bears, Mountain Goats and Big Horn Sheep. Banff and Jasper National Park are just a few of the areas we use for our trail runs in the Rockies. Clients have the opportunity to base out of several different locations including: Banff, Canmore, Golden and Jasper. All of these locations offer every type of accommodation imaginable from a basic hostel to a 4 Star Hotel.
